Know the Heart Behind Our Mission

For over five decades, the Social Service Guild (SSG) has stood beside Bengaluru's underserved communities, offering education, dignity, and hope. Registered as a society on December 12, 1973, and rooted in the mission of Kristu Jyoti College, SSG operates 9 Don Bosco Learning and Activity Centres and 2 crèche centres across urban villages and slum settlements in K.R. Puram, Bengaluru. Nearly 400 children and their families benefit from SSG's programmes every year.

Mission

Serving with Compassion Since 1973

SSG was born from the Salesian commitment to young people, especially those on the margins. Over 50 years, we have grown from a single community initiative into a network of 9 learning centres and 2 crèche centres serving children from families of daily wage labourers, migrant workers, and domestic helpers. Our centres operate every evening, providing academic support, nutrition, life skills training, and a safe, welcoming space where every child is valued. The work is carried out by paid teachers, first-year theology brothers from Kristu Jyoti College, and volunteers from partner religious congregations.

Our mission is to provide supplementary education, nutrition support, life skills training, and community engagement programmes to children and families in the urban slums and settlements around Kristu Jyoti College, Bengaluru. We work in partnership with BREADS (Bangalore Rural Educational and Development Society), ADPG (Amis Du Père Guézou, France), corporate CSR partners, and local benefactors to ensure sustainable, long-term impact.
